As it was requested by a number of you beauties, I have uploaded a make up related video - which I enjoyed doing...so be prepared to watch more get ready with me videos!

So, the video I did was my 'Everyday Look', have a watch and let me know what you think:

- Sleek Face Form Palette in Dark

I used a Sigma Large Angled Contour Brush F40 to apply

- Urban Decay  Naked Flushed Palette

I used a Sigma Large Powder Brush F30 to apply

- The Balm Cosmetics Mary-Louminizer

I used a Real Techniques Contour Brush to apply

- L'Oreal 6 Hour Glam Shine in 200 Mauve

I used a Real Techniques Detailer Brush to apply

Scarf is from Whitechapel Market and the pin is a standard straight pin (purchased off Amazon) and painted to a nail polish colour of my choice!

MW's Everyday Hijab Style and ZokiPin

Hey Whirlers,

Hope Ramadan has been treating you well, I cannot believe it is nearly ending already!! This blessed month flies by in a flash!

Apologies for being MIA on the blog this month, but I haven`t been completely away! If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter then you will know I have been trying to be interactive on YouTube! So, I have been uploading over there! I have even made my videos public! *horror*

Right, so the first video I uploaded after making my videos public, was my everyday hijab style!

As mentioned in the video, it was oddly enough requested by a few Whirlers! So, here you go:

In the video, I mention the hijab pins from ZokiPins, which is a fantastic new online hijab pin store.
Their product range is extremely cute, have a look at a few of their pins:

The pins arrived safely and promptly, first class signed delivery, wrapped in a cute compact box and each pin had its own individual netted pouch for protection.

The quality of the pins, themselves are great. There wasn`t a stone missing in any of the pins, which to me is really important as I`m very OCD like that. 

I am absolutely loving the Princess pin, as it just oozes Indian Princess from the Mughal Era (which I love and am completely fascinated by). This is the one I wore in my video, as I feel this is the one I could get away with wearing on an everyday basis.

My favourite pin out them is the Emerald Sea, as it sparkles so nicely when the light catches it, however, I don`t have anything emerald in my wardrobe at the moment so I`m on the hunt for something cute to wear with it!

The Bali pin is slightly bigger compared to the other two pins and is something I`m not used to, but I definitely think, I would wear this when I`m wearing all black with gold accessories to ensure it stood out.

However, as these pins are so cute, I definitely think I will be adding them to accessorise my blazer!

The price range for ZokiPins range from £2.99 to £6.99 being the most expensive. I think this a reasonable price range, considering the quality of the pins are great and would definitely round up any outfit, whether it be day or evening.

MW's Burning Orange Birthday OOTD

Hey Whirlers,

Everyone loves finding new ways to wear their dresses, and I`m sure many of you have this burnt orange maxi dress from H&M. I always found it was quite difficult to wear alone. 

I decided to experiment with it by removing the original string belt it came with and wearing a tan leather waist belt.

I then teamed the dress with a blazer to complete a much more polished look - which is ideal for an evening event, birthday dinner (like I did, or even a date night). 

Big cocktail rings and a matching clutch and you`re good to go!

MW's Take on Spring Trends 2013

Hi Whirlers,

Hope all are well – you must be, you`ve come onto my blog! ;)

I want to firstly, apologise for taking so long to upload another video! But, I`ve been rather busy and I finally made the time over the Bank Holiday weekend.

This video is how I would incorporate the Spring Trends into my wardrobe. I talk about pastels, corals, bright colours, floral, cobalt blue, military, neutrals and oriental.

There are of course other trends that are big this Spring, such as neons, print trousers and monochrome! Neons and print trousers are literally a no-go zone for me, so I didn`t mention them in the video and monochrome is pretty self-explanatory!

The number one tip for ANY trend for a modest dresser, is that you don`t have to wear the trend head to toe. You can simply hit the trend by wearing it in your accessories! Jewellery, handbags, nail polish, make up, bracelets, sandals, scarves, etc. Ironically enough, I don`t really like having too much attention drawn to myself, so accessories is a huge part of my wardrobe and how I include the trends into my style. So, I follow this tip avidly!

PASTELS

This trend is pretty big this Spring, everywhere you look there is something in a pastel colour. Now, I`m not the most keenest on this trend, simply because, as mentioned in the video, I am more drawn to darker hues, I will incorporate the pastels through my accessories. But, if you like the pastels, then by no means, purchase those mint jeans or rose maxi skirt! I`m sure you`d look fantastic.

CORALS/BRIGHT COLOURS

I used to always wear black, so when I started to get out of my comfort zone and start purchasing bright colours, I kind of liked it. It was always fun to add colour to a black outfit. Again, accessories can play a large part in this trend, especially with a black maxi dress, the coral blazer I show on my video looks great with black! Have a look here when I wore it with a black maxi skirt.

FLORAL

This is another favourite trend of mine, as I think it`s so effortlessly girly. As mentioned in the video, I`m not a fan of wearing the floral blazer or trousers, as I feel that is too much for myself, so I always incorporate the trend through my accessories. Scarves are probably the most simple and ideal way of this trend. Great place to buy floral scarves is Whitechapel Market – I always pick one up when I`m there! I love a cute floral clutch in the Spring, which is perfect for a lunch out with friends. Don`t forget the sheer floral blouses that are in the stores at the moment, with a maxi skirt = cute and modest at the same time. But, of course if you can wear the floral blazer and trousers – then go you!

COBALT BLUE

Love this trend! I never use to be a fan of cobalt blue because it`s such a bright and vibrant colour – but bright colours are growing on me and I`m looking forward to wearing this colour! It can easily be softened down by wearing it with a soft pink, like I have done with this outfit here.

MILITARY

Anything khaki is a win for me! And, as mentioned in the video, it is something that keeps coming back on the catwalk every season. So, I think investing in a few military pieces will keep you going through the next few years. I`m on the hunt for a nice khaki trench coat!

ORIENTAL

This is such a beautiful trend this Spring – not only is it really elegant and delicate its fantastic trying to embrace a different culture into your wardrobe. I showed my interpretation of it really briefly on the video,  with my kimono, but it can be done through wearing sliky/satin floral printed attires, whether it be a jacket or a maxi skirt.

MW's Mingling with Magnolia's OOTD

Hi Whirlers!

Hope all are well, insha`Allah! The weekend went by ever so quickly, but I managed to grab a few shots in front of this gorgeous Magnolia tree!

We all love it when its Spring. Its the perfect opportunity to bring out the bright and light clothes that you have been hibernating over the, what seems a rather long and tedious, winter. So, when I saw sunshine this weekend, I leapt at the opportunity to do exactly this. Keeping with the spring vibe, I matched my dusty pink blouse with a vibrant blue maxi skirt and layered over my trusty oversized cardigan. 

I love layering, so I always feel Spring is the ideal season to do this because you can experiment with different colour combinations, and wear light jackets over it as its not quite warm to go without the jacket, but its not cold enough for a full on winter coat! 

Layering is definitively something crucial for modest fashion, as we tend to layer without even realising. When we wear that sleeveless maxi dress over a long sleeved basic tee. Even to wearing two different scarves at the same time - so we all do it! Whats your favourite layered look? I love creating different looks!

MW's Ethical Evergreen OOTD

Hello Whirlers,

I`ve been MIA, so I apologise for that - I hope all are well and have been chilling (literally, its April and its STILL snowing?!)

Today was graced with some sunshine, so I thought I would share an OOTD with you - to get you into the spring/summer spirit!

Now, I`m sure everyone is aware of the new H&M campaign, which is called the 'Conscious Collection' - it is everywhere from the TV, to magazines to billboards and Vanessa Paradis is the face of the collection - so you can`t have missed it! The concept is basically making clothes out of sustainable material and only H&M would be able to make green clothes look awesome! The collections is made out of organic cotton and recycled polyester - which is great, as going green is the way to go!

The items in this collection are seriously amazing and if I had enough money I would have bought so many more pieces, but this maxi dress (and, a blazer which isn`t in this post) will have to do for now.

MW's Top Tips - How to Embrace the Hijab

This is a new feature that I want to try out, we`ll see how it goes. Its going to be my top tips on styling an outfit, to organising your wardrobe, to whatever you guys want - so email me your requests to mangowhirl@gmail.com

Today is National Hijab Day, so to support this day, I have decided to do my first top tips on how to embrace the hijab!

I`ve been very closed about my hijab story, something which I am still not prepared to share on my blog. However, the transition period for me to embrace this beautiful step took 1-2 years in total - it does seem like a lot, doesnt it? But, I believe because of how I prepared myself for this step I`ve never felt insecure in my hijab, never felt the desire to remove it nor felt 'ugly' wearing it, Alhamdulilah.

So, read on for my tips! :)

1. Prepare your wardrobe in advance

When I say in advance I don`t mean a day before, I`m talking a year or so! This way, you`ll have four seasons worth of attire ready in your wardrobe when you`re about to make that next step.

• Start investing in looser clothes, maxi skirts, longer tops, maxi scarves, oversized cardigans, etc.
• If you wear vest tops at the moment, start to slowly wearing capped sleeves only in public, then gradually to 3/4 sleeves, etc - this way, you`ll slowly adjust to wearing longer sleeves. This gradual process will be great in the summer, when you`d be more inclined towards wearing vest tops because of how hot it is. If you`re wearing longer sleeves in warmer weather, you`ll adapt to this, and won`t feel overwhelmed once you`re a hijabi in the heat. And, the same for transitioning for skirts/shorts. 
• Accessories play a big part for wearing the hijab - longer necklaces, cocktail rings, bangles, etc. These will be the items that will stand out as a hijabi.
• Get all your hijab pins before! Different sizes, different colours, etc. Organisation is key.

I liked this approach because when I put the hijab on, I already had ideas about outfits, I had everything ready. I was organised about the step so I didn`t feel overwhelmed. Also, people weren`t 'shocked' that I put the hijab on as I was already fairly conservatively dressed. 

2. Start wearing scarves draped over your neck
I`m claustrophobic, so I started doing this from early on when I first started thinking about wanting to put the hijab on. I would match all my outfits to the scarf, but just have it draped around my neck in different styles.
Not only will this adjust you to the extra weight of a scarf, but it will get you into the habit of covering your chest - which is great even for a non-hijabi as we all like to cover our awra. 

Plus, scarves are a fab accessory to your outfit!

3. Wear the hijab around the house

After you do Salah, instead of taking the hijab off, keep it on - sooner or later you`ll forget you`re still wearing it until you catch yourself in the mirror.

Not only this, but your family will slowly adjust themselves to you wearing the hijab. 

4. Snap yourself hijab happy!

Take photos of yourself wearing the hijab. Familiarise yourself with your face shape, get an idea of what sort of scarf style will suit your face, experiment with different styles and materials. If you take photos, you can see yourself what looks good and what you`ll feel confident with. That way, when you leave the house wearing the scarf, you won`t feel self-concious as you would have got an idea of what suits you and you`ll have a visual image of what others are seeing..

5. Hijab is JUST a cloth
Most importantly, always remember that the hijab doesn`t define you as a Muslimah. 
Your deeds and thoughts are what define you. 

I don`t appreciate sisters who think they`re better than non-hijabi sisters - we have no right to judge someone because they sin differently to us. We also don`t know what they`re doing behind closed doors, nor can we see into their heart.  They could be more pious than you and I, but they could be faced with struggles. Everyone struggles differently, we`re not allowed to judge.
So, as long as your heart is pure, the hijab should be an easy transition...one day.

I hope my tips help and insha'Allah you will take this beautiful step. 

I understand putting the hijab on is a very difficult step, but just remember, Islam wasn`t given to our beloved Prophet in one day, it was given in small parts...so, putting the hijab on? Take baby steps, don`t overwhelm yourself. :)

MW's Seeing Swallows OOTD

Hey Whirlers, 

Hope all are well :)

I did make another video of my recent shopping purchases, but it took ALL day to SAVE, I just dread to know how long it will take to upload on YT! So, I may give it a miss. In the video, I mention my recent obsession with TK Maxx, and I show you the dress in this post as one of my recent purchases. 

Its a high low dress, which I think is great for modest fashion! I understand this style is difficult to wear when they`re designed for legs to be exposed, but, worn with slim trousers or a tube maxi skirt, we can create an even better look (as we all know, less is more), a much more sophisticated look - and, lets be frank - we`re much warmer!

So, I paired the dress with slim trousers, heels to add length as I think the dress does need height to pull it off well (due to the dipped hem) and a belt to nip in the waist.

MW's Hunting for Green OOTD

Hello Whirlers,

Longline blazers are fantastic to keep modest yet warm in the colder months, so when I found this amazing one in Forever 21, I did not hesitate on the purchase. I absolutely adore it, and its in Hunter Green which is on trend this season. I wore a leopard print belt to break up the outfit, but I think burgundy also looks fantastic with hunter green.

This outfit can so easily be worn in the office. I think I might do that next week.
