MW's Seeing Swallows OOTD

Hey Whirlers,

Hope all are well :)

I did make another video of my recent shopping purchases, but it took ALL day to SAVE, I just dread to know how long it will take to upload on YT! So, I may give it a miss. In the video, I mention my recent obsession with TK Maxx, and I show you the dress in this post as one of my recent purchases.

Its a high low dress, which I think is great for modest fashion! I understand this style is difficult to wear when they`re designed for legs to be exposed, but, worn with slim trousers or a tube maxi skirt, we can create an even better look (as we all know, less is more), a much more sophisticated look - and, lets be frank - we`re much warmer!

So, I paired the dress with slim trousers, heels to add length as I think the dress does need height to pull it off well (due to the dipped hem) and a belt to nip in the waist.

Dress - Tk Maxx (Band of Gypsies)
Trousers - Primark
Underdress - H&M
Shoes - New Look
Belt - F21
Accessories - H&M and F21
Hijab - eBay

What do you think?

MW's Burgundy Blogger OOTD

Hey Whirlers,

Here is my OOTD from the Bloggers lunch.
Photos are courtesy of Aalia.

I wore my favourite grey maxi skirt again, with an oversized cardigan I picked up from Paris, over a white button up shirt. I love wearing oversized cardigans with sleeves peeking out as I love the layered look. I added my leopard print belt to add something different to the outfit.

This winter I have totally used and abused my brown Deichmann studded biker boots. They are just SO comfortable and go with so many of my outfits - I can`t resist!! I promise I will try the grey skirt with a burnt orange top soon and share with you!!

Cardigan - Le Chateau

Are there any types of outfits you`d like to see me try out? Like, office wear, casual, formal, etc etc?

Or, do you have a specific type of post you`d like me to do? Comment below or email me! :)

Hope everyone has a wonderful break from work/school - we all deserve to just curl up with hot chocolate for a week!!

MW Goes for Lunch

Whirlers,

How are you all? Sorry I`ve been MIA - extremely busy and due to daylight saving hours, I`m not able to take good photos without daylight :( So, I do apologise for that!

I recently went to a bloggers lunch hosted by Zinah and Hafsa in London. It was a great event, with amazing turnout of beautiful sisters! I have included photos and a video!

The mojito`s Aalia and I were obsessed with.

Aalia and Beauty Wednesday looking beautiful as usual <3

I`m obsessed with Chicken Wings ever since my best friend introduced them to me, so whenever I see them on a menu, I HAVE to order! These were nice, but not amazingggg.

More girlies who attended!

Myself, Aalia and BW modelling the goody bags provided by Zinah :)

Myself, Ala and Safiyah

Zinah and crazy Betul!

Alyssssssssa!

Taking a photo of Aalia taking a photo of me...as we do.

All of the girls, except Alyssa!
Hope you enjoyed the photos. The video is available under the tab 'Videos'!

MW Shopping Goodies

Hello Whirlers,

Ive decided to do something different this time. I thought I would do a video rather than taking photos of my recent purchases. I thought it would be quicker than taking photos, etc. It is, somewhat. I can just leave the video to upload and get on with other things. So, if you like, I may do more. If not, back to watermarking everything I upload, lol.

Let me know if you like the video, if I should do more, if I should stick to blogging, etc, etc.

P.S. Ignore my messy hijab, I literally whirled it on.

MW's Hunting for Green OOTD

Hello Whirlers,

Longline blazers are fantastic to keep modest yet warm in the colder months, so when I found this amazing one in Forever 21, I did not hesitate on the purchase. I absolutely adore it, and its in Hunter Green which is on trend this season. I wore a leopard print belt to break up the outfit, but I think burgundy also looks fantastic with hunter green.

This outfit can so easily be worn in the office. I think I might do that next week.

MW's Review: Urban Decay The Vice Palette

Hello my lovelies,

How are you all?

I was a little cheeky and purchased 'The Vice Palette' by Urban Decay, and I thought I would share photos/swatches with you:

The palette is a gorgeous purple shade, with 'UD' in a faux diamond raised kind of effect. Unlike the Naked Palette One (velvet) and Naked Palette Two (metal), The Vice Palette is made of a soft rubber texture, which is smooth to the touch. It looks very cool, although, I`m sure when it comes to putting the palette away, the raised logo will be an issue. The outer packaging was a simple cardboard box, which tried to imitate the faux diamonds effect for the 'UD' and again in the same shade of purple as the palette, itself.

The palette comes with a full size mirror, which is fantastic, as the palette is fairly large (18cm x 14cm).

In the palette, you also get a double ended brush, blending brush on one side and a crease brush on the other. It is smaller compared to the other Karma brushes that you can purchase or the ones that come with a palette, but the width is exactly the same.

You are greeted with 20 colours in this gorgeous palette, all of which cannot be purchased individually (as I was told by the UD sales assistant in Debenhams). The palette consists of a large spectrum of colours, where majority are shimmery, and two neutral mattes. Perfect for Asian weddings, mendhi`s, etc!

(photo without flash)

(photo with flash)

1st row: (l-r) Desperation, Muse, Jagged, Blitz, Penny Lane
2nd row: (l-r) Junkie, Chaos, Occupy, Unhinged, Black Market

These colours are absolutely gorgeous! The eyeshadows, being true to Urban Decay's reputation are highly pigmented. My favourite from the first two rows are Muse, Blitz and Junkie - amazingly pigmented. I mean, look at Muse, that was ONE swipe! Love it! Unhinged was also a highly pigmented shadow, which I cannot wait to experiment with. Chaos looks SO electric and vibrant in the palette, but it seemed a little chalky when I swatched it and needed to swipe it a few times to build up colour, which I was disappointed with.

3rd row: (l-r) Provocateur, Rapture, Vice, Noise, Armor
4th row: (l-r) Nevermind, Echo Beach, Anonymous, Freebird, Laced

Amazing girly colours. Provocateur, Armor and Vice being my favourite from the 3rd row. Again, highly pigmented shades. Noise was also disappointing like Chaos, where I needed to swipe it a few times to build up the colour for the swatch.
I was further disappointed with the 4th row, where they had two matte neutral shades Anonymous and Laced, which like Noise and Chaos, were very chalky and not very pigmented. This also meant having to build up the swipes simply for the swatch. Besides that, Nevermind, Echo Beach and Freebird are gorgeous neutral shades, Nevermind being my favourite.

RRP: £42.00
(but, currently on sale in Debenhams for £37.80!)
(Urban Decay can be purchased from Debenhams and House of Fraser)

Verdict: I think this palette is most definitely worth the money, simply because an individual UD eyeshadow is £14.00, weighing at 1.5g. This palette consists of 0.8g (which is a little over half) making each individual eyeshadow a little over £7.
If we stick to the price of £7 for each eyeshadow in the palette, then
£7 x 20 = £140
Lets not forget the make up brush, a blending brush is £17.50 and a crease brush is £14.50, making the average between the two, £16.00. As the brush is smaller, we`ll knock off a few pounds - and I`m estimating the retail price for this brush to be £14.00. Even then, that is included into the palette price! Making the full price for the palette to be £154.00, retailing at £42.00!
Amazing, right?

Most definitely a bargain for what you`re getting (and, yes, this is how I justify my purchases haha).

Will you be buying this palette? Do you already have it? What is your favourite colour from the palette?

xo

P.S. I think I need to work on applying swatches...couldn`t do it in a straight line.

MW's Cosy Charcoal OOTD

Hello Whirlers, kem cho?

Sorry I`ve been MIA for a while...hope all are well!

I`m going to be at Smoky not Smudgy on the 17th - will you be there? Would be great to see you! Let me know if you`re going!! :)
---
Autumn is finally creeping on us, with the golden leaves on our drives, the icy mornings, the earlier Maghrib azaan and the warmth of hot chocolate. This can only mean, all my favourite colours come out to play!

I recently purchased a charcoal grey maxi skirt, which I am absolutely obsessed with. It goes with so many different hues of colour which I am discovering when I play around creating new outfits. A favourite colour combination of mine with grey is...burgundy. This is great as its such an on trend colour this season. It not only adds warmth to a dull hue (the grey) it just looks so cosy!

I`ve also dug out my snoods from the back of my cupboard, so yay - even more cosy time for me!

What do you think of my outfit?

Tshirt - H&M
Cardigan - Zara
Skirt - eBay
Bag - Matalan
Shoes - Deichmann
Accessories - H&M/Forever 21
Hijab - Forever 21
Snood - H&M

Also, a fun photo which I uploaded onto Instagram:

What other colour combinations go with grey?
(So, I have even more excuse to wear this maxi skirt!)

Also, are you going to SnS this year??

P.S. Have you seen my pics from my trip to Paris? Here and here.

MW Aime Paris: Partie Duex

Bonjour!

Partie duex to my previous post!

Seventh stop: Arc de Triomphe
This is MASSIVE, much larger than I thought, especially as I saw it from the distance when we were at Place de la Concorde. This is basically in memorial of the soldiers during the World Wars. There is a tomb underneath which is famously known as The Unknown Soldier.

Eighth stop: Trocadéro/Eiffel Tower
This was the place I was most excited to visit, simply because it has the BEST view of the Eiffel Tower! I mean check out the photo! You get the entire tower view from this place. If you walk down the stairs of the Palace de Chaillot you will come across Jardins du Trocadéro, which is pretty amazing in itself. If you cross the street and walk across Pont d'Iéna you will be right underneath the Eiffel Tower. Here you can go to the second floor, or for the more adventurous - the top. Mama Mango, fainthearted,  opted out and didn`t want me to go up, either - so I missed out on the amazing views! But, I`m 100% sure the view would have been epic.

TIP: If you want to get a full shot of the Eiffel Tower then take the bus/metro to Trocadéro and follow the signs for 'Tour Eiffel' - I promise you it will take your breath away!

Jardins de Trocadéro behind me. The building behind me is the Palace de Chaillot. In this building, they adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948!

Mama Mango enjoying the view before crossing Pont d'Iéna to get to the Left Bank where the Eiffel Tower resides.

Ninth stop: Eiffel Tower/Champ de Mers
No introduction is obviously needed for the Eiffel Tower, but little trivia, when France was occupied by the Germans in 1940, the cable for the elevator was cut so Adolf Hitler had to walk RIGHT to the top - hah!

The Buddy Bears are currently in Paris where they have 140 pooh bears representing the countries that the UN recognise and they signify the peaceful coexistence of the countries...*awkward*
Find out more here.

At the foot of the Champ de Mers, you`ll find the 'Wall for Peace' which was inspired by the Wailing Wall of Jerusalem. It explains the Arabic and Hebrew writing of peace all around the monument. There`s a massive split view on the Wailing Wall of Jerusalem, where both Muslims and Jews hold it very high. For Muslims, it holds the foundation of the Aqsa Masjid and the Dome of Rock, but also it was the gate in which we believe our beloved Prophet (sws) came to Jerusalem from Mecca on a Buraq. Jews, it is one of their last remaining portions of the Temple of Solomon. The Jews want to reconstruct the Temple of Solomon, but in order to do so it would mean destroying the masjids - hence the massive split view on the Wall.

The view as I was approaching the Eiffel Tower.

The Buddy Bears all with their arms up ready for a hug.

Me with the Buddy Bears which show the love/coexistence between all the religions...

Tramp alert, clearly.

Wall for Peace

Magical view after Maghrib!

Tenth stop: Notre Dame
Everyone has heard of this cathedral, because of the book by Victor Hugo - Hunchback of Notre Dame! I was a little excited to see this! It oozed Gothic architecture with the gargoyle sculptures along the top of the cathedral. It was pretty cool to see, if I`m honest.

---

So, that was my trip to Paris! We saw PLENTY of culture and history in those two days, and we absolutely adored it. I would most definitely recommend to go to Paris if you haven`t been - I can`t believe I waited so long to explore this city?!

Have you been? Where else would you recommend to go? Any tips? Share below!

If you are going any time soon, and want specific details etc, please do email me at mangowhirl@gmail.com and I`ll share everything (limited) I know to you! :)

Hope you enjoyed the photos/history lesson, as much as I did typing it up.

Hope everyone has had a lovely Eid weekend.
