MW's Snapshot Saturday

Whirlers!! :)
Hope everyone is well!

1. My Dad bought me a prayer mat with a compass and an Islamic book, even though its directed at men, it gives me an insight into the men's duties as a Muslim.
2. Little brother had his driving theory test this week, at 8am!! And, I went and grabbed a gingerbread latte in Costa. Mmm.
(He passed, in case anyone was wondering lol)
3. A sunrise shot from my bedroom window. Amazing. Masha`Allah.
4. Revision again!!

But, this week has been pretty blessed where I received really good news, so Alhamdulilah. Truly, truly, truly made me realise that sabr, dua and hardwork really do pay off. Alhamdulilah.

How has your week been?

MW's Quick Tip

Whirlers!

I know I said I wouldn't post, but I just had to share this tip with you guys! So, I'm emailing from my BlackBerry!

Whirlers, are there any of you who ruin your scarves because you don't have 'snag-free' pins? And, leaves a gaping big hole in your cute hijab? I definitely do it, because I don't have any nor can I find any small ones!

Soooo, how about doing this? Getting the rubber guards from the back of your earrings and sliding it onto your safety pin, until it reaches the coil!

What do you think?

MW's Resolutions for 2012

Beauts :)

I don`t usually do resolutions as I tend to break them/forget about them, but this time I thought I`d put them on my blog to remind myself, and in months down the line, I can see if I`ve achieved them/continued with them.

So, lets get down to it!

1. Memorise more surahs. Read the Quran on a daily basis. So, so, soooo important. I mean if I have time to sit here and write on a silly bloggy, then I`m more than capable of sitting down to read the Quran. I think what I`m going to do is, read a few pages after every namaz, then I`ll feel better within myself. I remember when I was learning arabic (we had a Mersaab who came to our house every Saturday because where we live there are no masjids) and he told me, if you read it everyday, and the one day you don`t...you`ll feel lost. I want that feeling...that longness to read the words of Allah (swt) and then to rush towards the Quran and feel at ease. Insha`Allah.
And, also I think learn more about Islam in general as there is SO much I need to learn.

2. Get more into photography. Parents bought me a professional camera for my birthday and I rarely play around with it. Must get into it. I`m actually really excited to get into photography more in 2012. So, if I do play around and I like what I do, then I`m sure I`ll share and keep you guys updated!!

3. Shop WITHIN my wardrobe. Yes, that means NO ACTUAL SHOPPING for me. I have more than enough clothes, which doesn`t get the maximum use that they should. So, its a bit stupid of me to buy new clothes when I have so many unworn items already sitting at home. And, to only shop if its ACTUALLY necessary. That means, unsubscribing from store emails, avoiding shopping centres and not browsing online stores nor check out others bloggy posts on their 'hauls'...or even chicka's on YouTube!!

4. I think everyone has this resolution, but to shift some stomach fat....AWAY FROM ME!!! I`ve watched some videos, read articles as to WHY fat is stored there, so I understand everything about it to tackle it with a clearer mind. I think I will probably do light exercises at home and go jogging around where I live, as the atmosphere is so peaceful.

I think if I can maintain these resolutions throughout 2012, then insha`Allah, I`ll have a detox in mind, body and soul and have a more positive approach to life.

Have you kept any resolutions?

xo

P.S. I also have some great ideas for the blog, but I will be busy from now until mid-January. So, I have a few scheduled posts as I hate leaving the blog unattended for so long. I won`t be able to reply to comments as quickly, but I shall, so please do comment still. Soon, I`ll be posting more and in general being more interactive with these potentially good ideas. So, until then, spread the mangowhirl love. Catch me on twitter. ID is over on the right. Click, click, click. See you guys in the new year, insha`Allah :)

MW's 3 Ways to Wear: Black Maxi Skirt

Right, Whirlers, this is my new idea to do on my bloggywoggy...
'3 WAYS TO WEAR'

So, I`m going to start it off with a BLACK MAXI SKIRT.

Okay, every single hijabi owns one of these in their closet, so I thought this would be the easiest to start with. And, its often hard to wear a maxi skirt in the winter because it is quite a summer item, however, we can definitely incorporate it into our winter attire. The aim of this '3 WAYS TO WEAR' is so hijabi's like me can have different outfits with one item of clothing.

1. LAYERS
Shirts, jumpers, waistcoats, whatever it may be, the layering is HUGE this winter and it comes EVERY winter for me. I HATE wearing coats, so I`m always layering up to keep warm! Layers look great with maxi skirts, as it just looks so nice and casual yet easy.

However, the photo above, I think would look perfect for the office. I would team a mac over the top if it was really cold (and, to stop mum yelling at me) and the layered look would be perfecto!

I love this look this time of year, because you don`t have to buy new items, you just pile on what you already have in your closet and you will achieve this look.

White Shirt - H&M
Turquoise V-Neck Jumper - H&M
Blazer - Zara
Maxi Skirt - H&M
Shoes - M&S
Bag - ALDO

2. OVERSIZED KNITS
Definitely a favourite for this winter, and again the same as every winter. I never buy my own oversized knit, I cheat and raid my brothers or my dad's closet to get this look. This photo above is a REALLY nice cashmere jumper that I stole from my dad's.

Make sure you team the maxi skirt with ankle boots. I`m wearing these really cool studded biker ankle boots, which unfortunately you can`t see in the photo, but I absolutely, absolutely love them and just ooooooze casual chic. Throw on a thick knitted scarf or snood and you will rock the casual look with the maxi skirt.

Snood - H&M
Maxi Skirt - H&M
Boots - New Look
Bag - ALDO

Oh, and add the satchel, which is huge this winter.

3. POP OF COLOUR/CLUTCH
I`m trying to do two trends in one here. A pop of colour is always a great thing in the winter when everything is really gloomy, this colour will just jump out. And, also, clutches are the new handbags, whether it be hugged, under the arm, held in the hand, etc etc...a clutch is huge now.

Black Vest - H&M
Blazer - H&M
Maxi Skirt - H&M
Shoes - M&S
Clutch - New Look
Accessories - Forever 21

A purple clutch with the maxi skirt, and black blazer, with a gorgeous long necklace, would be gorgeous for a night out with the ladies, or other half.

So, this is MW's first '3 WAYS TO WEAR' - do you like it? Does it help hijabi's think of different outfits to achieve with one item? Shall I carry on doing these?

What do you think?

#bbloggersmeetup

Whirlers!

So, over the weekend, the beautiful ladies of beauty blogging had a meet up in Westfields, White City.

The afternoon started off with a meal at Jom Makken and then the fun part - the beauty swap!

MuslimahBeauty came up with the awesome idea we bring the beauty products, make up, etc that we didn`t think matched our skintone, something that we swatched once, samples, etc and swap it with something another blogger felt they didn`t want, anymore but we liked!

This is a photo of the two tables filled with the products everyone had brought along. And, of course you cant have a meet up without mocktails and other delights!
